We had a $300 portable navigation system stolen from our car on Friday evening. I had been transporting groceries to/from the car and do remember that I failed to lock the car when taking in the last load. My husband noticed Saturday morning that someone had rifled through the glove compartment and the center console. The navigation system was taken, but other items (sunglasses, CDs, etc.) were left behind. All exterior lights were illuminated throughout the night, and the car was in our driveway. We plan to file a police report.

FYI– I came home yesterday & saw a few odd things that indicated someone might have been in the house. When my checkbook, Cooper’s passport, his Social Security card, AND all available cash from my desk came up missing I was alarmed. today I verified that Nick’s wallet (in his clothes drawer) and Cooper’s back up money (in his desk drawer) are also missing. I called the police & filed a report. I believe someone came in during the day yesterday and very likely between 1-5 p.m. I see no forced entry (we did not have dead bolts set & we do not have an alarm). No large item, r laptop, or even small digital camera were taken . . . just everything to do with cash & of course
Cooper’s identity!!!

Last night our car was broken into, rifled through, and left nicely organized. Nothing was taken (despite there being an ipod and a portable dvd player), and this time all the CD’s were left nicely fanned out on the seat (versus haphazardly strewn about as they have been usually left in the previous 3 times the car was broken into). Even with an unencumbered sense of curiosity and kleptomaniac tendency, it seems as though our burglar has a new found sense of responsibility and order. Oh joy.

Happened to us again last week but am just now remembering to email. (2nd time since we moved into our new house October 1. Welcome to the neighborhood!) My question is whether or not anyone knows if they’re able to break into a locked car without the alarm going off? I’m pretty religious about locking my car but can’t swear that I’ve done it on the two nights that they’ve gone through my car. Don’t know which is scarier – that they can break into a locked car w/no alarm going off or that they are checking the cars that frequently that my car has been rifled through the few times that I’ve forgotten to lock it.
Will fill out a report form.

We had the exact same thing [as at 1605 Gaston last night] happen at 1507 Westover. We usually lock the car, but I am not sure we did so last night. Items from the center console were in the driver’s seat and the passenger door was ajar. Our car was up in our driveway as well. Nothing to take -

I foolishly failed to lock my car yesterday evening, and this morning when I got in the car, it was clear someone had rifled through everything. Fortunately, I keep nothing of value in my car, because of all of these break –ins.
My car was way up in our driveway.

This morning at 4:49 AM — I know the exact time because I was in bed half awake and looked instantly at the clock — a burglar was in my back yard at 1402 Ethridge Avenue. Our back yard has a 6-8’ stone fence and I heard him come over the fence and then his footfalls along the French doors at the back of the house. I leapt out of bed and ran downstairs to turn on the back yard security lights and turn loose the dogs (both of whom were sleeping soundly in the utility room adjacent to the patio — worthless animals). By his sounds, he appeared to take off in the direction of the new house being built adjacent to ours, again leaping off the wall which is a pretty good jump. I never saw him but I could hear his movement sounds clear as a bell. No damage done.
Please use this time to correlate with any other local mischief.

Our Volvo was unlocked in the driveway by our garage. The satellite radio was ripped out of the dash and contents of glovebox scattered in the car. Unfortunately, our driveway flood lights burned out over Spring Break and we hadn’t replaced them.
Be sure to keep your property well lit and vehicles locked!

We are at 1605 Gaston (4 houses off of Jefferson). My son’s nice bicycle was stolen from our rear driveway this past Wednesday night, sometime before 11:30pm.
The thief had to open double gates that go across our driveway, walk down the drive and find the bike to take…
As far as we can tell nothing else was taken.
Usually our cars are up in the driveway, obscuring access in a way – but that night our cars were both on the curb….I noticed the gate was open when I moved my car up into the driveway around 11:30, and then realized that the bike was gone.
